“Evviva”
is an Italian expression of celebration similar to
"hooray!", generally used
to commemorate a royal occasion or an event of high
significance. I first heard the word “Evviva” in
Mozart’s opera “The Marriage of Figaro,” and
the word stuck with me.
For nearly twenty
years I worked in the insurance business, starting a de
novo agency, selling it, then working in the corporate
insurance environment. While I enjoyed helping clients,
I found my greatest fulfillment in creating marketing
strategies and re-tooling processes to gain efficiencies
and create better return opportunities. During that same
time I also invested a lot of time in political
campaigns, including my own, developing strategies and
helping to shape public policy. Politics became, as my
wife said, "an incurable disease."
One day I had a sort
of personal awakening and decided that I needed to get
out of my corporate box and take on a new,
invigorating endeavor. As I thought about the things I
enjoyed most, politics, creating business strategies and
improving efficiencies, I realized that together they
were a valuable and marketable quantity. I also
had some dreams I wanted to chase; such as singing and
performing with my daughter and son. I knew it was
time to break out of the box.
Too many people spend
their lives in jobs of necessity and never get the
chance to chase a dream or feel the wind in their face.
I needed an adventure and a challenge that would spring
me out of bed each morning, cause my heart to race, and
help me use some creativity and ingenuity to make
success happen.
When I embarked on my
new venture, I wanted to select a name for my business
that would be unique, would evoke curiosity, and would
properly define and celebrate the excitement and
enthusiasm I felt for my new journey. Evviva
Enterprises, Inc., is the result of that decision.
I would encourage
anyone with a dream to not only get out of their box,
but then take their box out and stomp on it, burn it,
and scatter its ashes on the winds of change. It will
give you something to celebrate.
Evviva! Evviva!
